    We present Extended Double BRST on the lattice and extend the Neuberger problem to include the ghost/anti-ghost symmetric formulation of the non-linear covariant Curci-Ferrari (CF) gauges.     Abstract In this work, the corrosion rate of the AZ31 magnesium alloy in physiological environment was improved by optimized machining process parameters. Cryogenic turning was exploited to obtain a featureless layer in the machined sub-surface, while the feed rate was modified to reduce the aspect ratio of the feed marks characteristic of the turning operation, achieving a decrease of the alloy wettability. The obtained results showed that the aforementioned combined aspects acted as an efficient strategy to enhance the AZ31 poor corrosion behavior, which represents the major obstacle of its effective application in the biomedical field

    Abstract Recently, magnesium alloys are attracting more and more attention as degradable materials for manufacturing temporary biomedical devices, although their rapid degradation in physiological environment limits their clinical applications to a great extent. Different Severe Plastic Deformation (SPD) processes have been recently applied to magnesium alloys in order to improve the surface integrity, which is directly correlated to their corrosion resistance. The current study investigates the possibility of exploiting Large Strain Extrusion Machining (LSEM) as a processing route to increase corrosion resistance of magnesium alloys for biomedical applications. Different cooling conditions and cutting speeds were adopted during LSEM and their effects on the surface integrity and corrosion resistance on both the machined workpiece and obtained chips were studied. For the first time, liquid nitrogen was used as cooling medium in LSEM and its effect was properly investigated. Results showed that LSEM, regardless of the adopted cutting parameters, is an effective method to obtain a workpiece with improved functional performances. Similar results pertain to the chips, but a careful choice of process parameters is even more mandatory than in the case of the workpiece

In particular the Jacobian that appears is the modulus of the standard Faddeev-Popov determinant. We give a path integral representation of this in terms of auxiliary bosonic and Grassman fields extended beyond the usual set for standard Landau gauge BRST. The gauge-fixing Lagrangian density appearing in this context is local and enjoys a new extended BRST and anti-BRST symmetry though the gauge-fixing Lagrangian density in this case is not BRST exact.M.     Decontracted double BRST on the lattice

    We present the Curci-Ferrari model on the lattice. In the massless case the topological interpretation of this model with its double BRST symmetry relates to the Neuberger 0/0 problem which we extend to include the ghost/anti-ghost symmetric formulation of the non-linear covariant Curci-Ferrari gauges on the lattice. The introduction of a Curci-Ferrari mass term, however, serves to regulate the 0/0 indeterminate form of physical observables observed by Neuberger. While such a mass m decontracts the double BRST/anti-BRST algebra, which is well-known to result in a loss of unitarity, observables can be meaningfully defined in the limit m to 0 via l'Hospital's rule. At finite m the topological nature of the partition function used as the gauge fixing device seems lost. We discuss the gauge parameter xi and mass m dependence of the model and show how both cancel when m = m(xi) is appropriately adjusted with xi.Comment: 18 pages, no figure

    Sigma Terms of Light-Quark Hadrons

    A calculation of the current-quark mass dependence of hadron masses can help in using observational data to place constraints on the variation of nature's fundamental parameters. A hadron's sigma-term is a measure of this dependence. The connection between a hadron's sigma-term and the Feynman-Hellmann theorem is illustrated with an explicit calculation for the pion using a rainbow-ladder truncation of the Dyson-Schwinger equations: in the vicinity of the chiral limit sigma_pi = m_pi/2. This truncation also provides a decent estimate of sigma_rho because the two dominant self-energy corrections to the rho-meson's mass largely cancel in their contribution to sigma_rho. The truncation is less accurate for the omega, however, because there is little to compete with an omega->rho+pi self-energy contribution that magnifies the value of sigma_omega by ~25%. A Poincare' covariant Faddeev equation, which describes baryons as composites of confined-quarks and -nonpointlike-diquarks, is solved to obtain the current-quark mass dependence of the masses of the nucleon and Delta, and thereby sigma_N and sigma_Delta. This "quark-core" piece is augmented by the "pion cloud" contribution, which is positive. The analysis yields sigma_N~60MeV and sigma_Delta~50MeV.Comment: 22 pages, reference list expande
